Not to take anything away from the OP's situation, but I disagree with the cell phone laws and bashing of using cell phones while driving.

The bottom line for me is distracted drivers who are not focused on the task at hand. It doesn't matter whether that distraction is a cell phone, car radio, MP3 player, kids in the back seat, drive-thru food, or the pretty girl on the sidewalk. They are all potential distractions to driving.

I believe there are MANY people out there who are wise enough to put down the cell phone while driving, in particular during tough traffic situations. The few boneheads who are not smart enough to put the phone down have resulted in these laws being foisted upon everyone.

The government likes it as the laws have become yet another source of 'revenue' for the coffers. However, I do not believe the laws really solve anything. A driver who is prone to distractions WILL be distracted no matter what. And the government cannot legislate that out of society.

My point... Blame the distracted drivers, not the cell phones.

Sad but true, I had a rear-ender years ago in New York City (my fault totally) enjoying watching a woman who, let's just say, was a "10" when leaving the room (can't comment on how she looked upon entry; didn't get a chance to see).

No one got hurt, only minor/moderate damage, but lesson learned! I still enjoy a nice view, but not while driving in city traffic

Wasn't the woman's fault for looking incredible in her yoga pants, it was my fault for taking the bait, LOL

I'm with whoever said have it checked by an independent shop after the work is done. That is a LOT of work done.

Glad you're ok.

My wife and son were on the receiving end of a VW Jetta doing about 40 as she was stopped to make a left on a main road. Clear, dry conditions about 7:15 am. The other driver never hit the brakes. Drove the '95 A6Q about 30' up the road, thank GOD my wife hadn't turned the wheels or she'd have been shoved into oncoming traffic. Shortened the A6 by about 3 feet, completely obliterating the trunk. And my son was in his car seat in the passenger side rear seat. Fortunately, the only physical damage were some black eyes and bruises on my wife's face as she bounced off the steering wheel. The A6 did give up it's life protecting its precious cargo - the biggest testament being that the rear passenger door actually opened without being forced.

I think I would have two or three shops check it out. I don't trust adjusters, they are working for the insurance company not you. Hope all works out for you, glad you weren't hurt.

X2

Driving already requires a person to multitask, handle interrupts and process lots of information. If you can't handle an extra one, you probably are already a danger to others. It's about being prepared. If I grab a sip of pop while driving and something comes up that really needs my hands, it's going to get thrown on the floor. Same goes for talking on my phone, even with the hands-free. If I'm busy driving my conversion includes, "uh", "hold on" and "what was that again?" Focusing on driving is a choice, not an impossibility and that is a big difference between distracted and drunk.

Also something most never thing of. But make them pay for what your truck is not going to be worth now also. Most Adjusters will never tell you this. But after they fix your truck. As it gets a rebuild title, You see your truck say its worth $35,000. now. After this see what its worth with a rebuilt title.
Insurance company's don't like to let this out. But they also have to pay the difference between what it was worth and what it would bring now. Buddy of mine has his on Insurance company. I asked about this, he told me yes they did pay the difference when the person had a clue it was to be paid. But they did not nor would they pay it just to me nice guys..
If your happy with your truck put back to where it was before the wreck?( I know I would rather have mine then go through building one back to haul the camper)Let them rebuild it, if not get the second opinion and see what they say. Insurance company's are out to save there butts not do what is right for you.

Niece had her $75,000. Car hit in a parking lot in Fl, they fixed this sports car. But she did not get what she would have gotten out of it later on. It cost her $25,000. for a wreck that was not her fault.

You don't get a rebuilt title if it just gets repaired. You get one if it is totaled and then you or someone else buys it back from the insurance company and repairs it.

diminished value is certainly a consideration....

I wouldn't be entirely comfortable with a fully rebuilt vehicle, and it will likely affect your resale.

just food for thought. Oh, and too bad that the newer Chevy won't work for you. I really like our 09, and will soon go to an 11 as soon as we can find one.

Sorry to hear about your accident, but what does Ford have to do with any of it?

Can't answer for Illegal immigration, but there are many of us amongst the ranks that believe that Ford has flubbed the duff on every Diesel they've used past the 7.3 PSD, so those of us that are Ford fans, are waiting for Ford to get it right again.

That, and bring us back the 6spd manual. I loved it behind the 7.3 in my old 2001 dually, and and like it alot behind the 5.4 gas in my current 2002 F350. But all the new trucks don't even offer it anymore....
So I'll stick with my older trucks till then...
