Hi guys we just got our 35' 2012 fuzion toy hauler a few weeks ago and I have a concern about the space between the top bed rail and the trailer. Its about 5" and the trailer is level.

I just do not want to pull into a gas station on a shop with a dip and cause a mess with the trailer and truck bed.

I can move the pinbox down and I can move the 5th wheel hitch up so what can or should I do.

Thanks Ron.

You are set up properly, towing nose high puts undue strain on the rear axle and tires as well as causing handling issues.

Your only other option would be to check the suspension and see if there are more holes. If so moving the axles down and then adjusting the hitch should give you another inch or so.
BTW just had a big argument with some folks on this subject and their opinion is that moving the front of the trailer up two inches does not significantly effect level of the trailer. Math proves that theory out, but I still prefer level.

That is a good question. I just got another 5th wheel and it too is just 5" above the rails. My other one was around 8". I wonder how much the nose tips on a big dip?

That's what has me concerned.
I drove the trailer home about 80 miles or so drove great.
Just I do not want to rip up my truck bed in a dip in the road.

I run around 7 inches and have never had a problem.
5" sounds a little tight.
I would adjust for 6" if possible. I tow about 2" nose high but my axle weights are the same.

If I was to lower the pin box I can move it down by looks one set of bolt holes maybe 1" or 2" Will that get me more room above the rails?

Or I can move the 5th wheel up 2" in the truck.

The more the better, but 5" is probably okay unless you get into a real dip situation. I have 6" but only had about 1" on one corner during a tricky turn in a CG. I was seriously worried but I made it without contact.

After researching this on the web I have come to the conclusion that 6" - 8" is best. My 20k Reese hitch has adjustments for level and my unit sits a little low so I'm going to bring it up 2" to 7". Better safe than sorry.

I droped the pin box today and now its around 7" from the bed rail to the trailer.
But now the trailer looks nose high. And after I load the bikes in the rear of the trailer I might be over loading the rear tires I think.

I may just drop it back down.
