I was just watching a YouTube clip of the new Jayco Skylark tt and they mentioned that the HW is now tankless, a la the home-style units. This makes perfect sense for our applications where space and weight are at a premium. The questions are a) is the TC industry there yet and b) anyone retrofit one into their unit??

Some of the manufacturers have installation and operating PDFs on their websites. I'd recommend paying those sites a visit to find out the particulars.
We do plan to install one in our vintage Airstream, though only after our current water heater dies. That may be a few years.

They are gas. Haven't seen an RV yet that would have a big enough electrical service for an on demand water heater.

Thanks, I assumed that they were like house on demand water heaters that were 120 volt. I didn't realize that you could do on demand with gas ... learn something everyday.

There has been electric and gas home on demand units for a number of years now, alot of the Oregon State Parks use the gas models in their bath houses (One whole home heater per 2 showers).

It's sounding like maybe a non-starter idea currently (but maybe not in the future.) The issue of minerals in the water (what the anode rode does) doesn't sound like it's been addressed? And the fact that it uses more LP which I guess shouldn't surprise.
