Hello Everyone,

We have done some rental rv-ing in the past and finally decided to buy a used one for more frequent weekend trips with the kids.

What are the items you would most recommend to have for a easy-going travel trailer trip?

So far I bought/have:
* sewer and water hoses with pressure regulator
* black water chems
* extension cord, conversion plugs
* basic tool kit
* rope, string
* four 12x12x1 pavers for the levelling jacks

2009 Palomino Puma 28BHS, 2011 Chevy Tahoe, Pro-Series 49902 WD-hitch w/sway control.
Travelling with 6 girls - you figure the distribution :-)

I'd swap the pavers for some 2x8x18 scrape lumber for the leveling jacks.. A lot lighter and easier to haul around. Might want to make up several more of them for placing under the trailer tires to help level side to side if needed.

Alternatively, lots of folks swear by those plastic 'Lego' blocks.. They come in a handy little bag and weigh less than the lumber..

Some form of level. The rig might already have it's own levels on the corners, but a basic level is all that's really needed. I use a simple $2 round bubble level and place it on the hitch. It checks side to side and front to back in a single placement. Easy!

Gloves for handling the hitch stuff. I like the 'blue rubber' type of gloves. If you are really concerned about the sewer line and stuff, folks like to get a box of the disposable rubber gloves.

There is probably a bunch of other stuff that I take, but that's taken years of saying "I wish I had this..".

Good luck and have fun!

Mitch

Flash lights and batteries are a must have.
I have a pretty well stocked tool box with all the basic tools needed to do onsite repairs if needed.

Plenty of good quality extension cords. Personally I don't use the cheap orange ones, as they barely carry enough amps to run a toaster outside.
As mentioned above, always a good idea to have a roll of duct tape on hand.

Plastic buckets to hold all your smaller items.
And Beer, oh did somebody already mention beer? lol

BTW- You'll figure out what you need and don't need after a couple weekends of camping.

Congrats on your new toy.

Definitely duct tape! Kitchen items including paper plates, broom, outdoor mat. Possibly tie downs for awning. Spare towels, especially if you have a dog. More paper towels than you think you can use

Enjoy!

Don't forget a bottle opener if you drink good craft beer.
Also, make sure you have a BFH in your tool kit. (Big Freaking Hammer) Comes in handy for lots of stuff. Especially if your forgot to pack the bottle opener.
