I carry a 6 ton for my 10K GVWR trailer and wished it was bigger. Next time I will buy a twelve ton just because bigger is better sometimes.

I have a old '70s 12 ton shortie hyd bottle jack. It was sold as a truckers special as it came with a 12" x 12" wide base for using on soft surfaces on the side of the road. Its great for sliding under the axles to lift the axle when changing a flat tire.

Lifting one side of the trailer is no problems with this jack.

IMO a 4000 lb jack is simply not he best tool for your 16000 lb trailer when lifting the end of one axle or other jobs that require lifting the side of the trailer.

Wow I got lot of response. That is what I like about this forum. Okay I just only need a bottle jack to lift up one side of tire so that I can work on bearing or just in case if tire gets flat on the road. So you are saying 2 ton bottle jack is not enough?

Or get a trailer with a Big Foot or a similar hydraulic lift system and leave the bottle jack and trailer aide stuff at home.

Until it malfunctions. :-) Even if I had a leveling system, I'd still carry a jack.

Is Big T suggesting a $2500 replacement for a $19 bottle jack?

I have no problem using the factory bottle jack that came with my F350. I just used it with a single piece of flat wood to jack my fver onto (4) 6k jackstands so I could install my new 16's.
