Just my 2 cents, but I would not tow a 35 ft trailer with a 123wb SUV,especially if all my family is onboard. You will be overloaded, get terrible milage and be riding on P series tires. You are in 3/4 ton crew cab territory.

12mpg with a gas engine towing a high walled TT with a gas engine? Never heard of that. Budget for 8mpg, might get up to 10mpg. Fact of towing a sail, brick, whatever through the air at 65mph. 12mpg for a diesel towing a TT, maybe.

i was only posting a range.
with ideal conditions, someone can get 12mpg for a period of time. i wasn't posting an overall amount.

heck, a guy on another RV forum claimed nearly 14mpg on a 90 mile drive, with his F-150 5.4 v-8.
no one believes him but he claimed that he had ideal conditions and it was true.

Nice to see SOMEONE realize that when oil companies get mugged, the cost eventually works its way into the product.

With my Titan I average 8-8.5 MPG with the TT in my signature. Seen as low as 7 and as high as 9.5. I'd hate to hit a 15-20 MPH headwind, though.

Too many variables involved. On big heavy 35" mud tires I average 200 miles per tank. When I had 33" A/T tires I averaged 250 miles per tank. If I go much above 65 mph it seems to reduce another 50 miles per tank. Either way, for me towing the TT seems to kill about 70-100 miles per tank from when not towing. Heavy winds make a hige difference, my awning got blown off while driving though some very heavy gusts on a storm front a couple weeks ago.

Figure 8 for your budgeting and go from there. You are not going to get anywhere near 9-12 as someone else suggested. You will get 9-10 on a good day (no wind) and 7-8 on a bad day (windy). Guessing you will average 8.5 overall for a long trip.

I agree. I also think that 9500 GVW trailer is a bit large for your Armada.
The hills in W.VA maybe unforgiving. Beware.

I towed a 2008 Hornet 30BHS for quite awhile an 07 1500 Suburban 6.0/4.10, and usually average 7-8 MPG towing through the flats and moderate hills of Missouri. Before that, a 2006 Fourwinds 28G (with slide) towed with an 06 Yukon 5.3/4.10. Same mileage of 7-8 MPG with that as well. So, there seemed to be a pattern 8 MPG on average. Probably will be the same as your Armada. I'll spare you the lecture on being over GVWR, as I probably was as well. :-)

I get 10-10.5 with my Tahoe pulling my Passport 238ML. I've seen 8.5 in all stop-go traffic. I get 10-10.5 whether I'm pulling at 50 or 60 mph. With your bigger rig I wouldn't expect above 10.

You've got between $50-$60,000 invested in a vehicle/RV and you are worried about $$ for gas???

Should have thought about that before getting:

"2012 Keystone Hideout 31RBDS Unloaded Weight 7780 lbs. Carrying Capacity 1755 lbs. Gross Allowed Weight 9595 lbs"

I get 10 mpg towing a #5000 TT.. If you get that, you just won the Lottery!

Good luck and ENJOY YOUR RIG! Don't fret about what it's going to cost you in gas.... If you do, you'll never enjoy it...

Mitch
