Please don't take this the wrong way, but I have always felt that if you "chip," you will eventually pay the price.
My advice, pull the chip.
Others, of course, have a different opinion.

I dont agree with the chipping ruining the tranny..... If you drive it sensible you will be fine... If you have it cranked to the max and HOTDOG it yes , THEN PROBLEMS!!
JRP264 wrote: The reason I chipped was to improve fuel economy, I get not pulling, running at 65 MPH 23 miles to the gallon, pulling I get between 13 and 14 at the same speed. Running 40 or 50 K year this adds up to more than the price of a transmission. However, I am going to look into upgrades. Thanks for the advice. JRP

My 08 D Max gots the D MAX SPADE KING TUNER and the tans mods and a Air Dog fuel pickup and I haven't limped it yet,and have had it on some good long grade just passing everything insight. And my 05 is in the High Horsepower 500+ and with the big lift tires the custom tune by Underground. Diesel and ATS trans, and never limped it in the last 6-7years. I am NOT always hard on them at all on but if I need to be and you spend the money to build it right, you will have a what I like to call a Super Stock truck, because I haven't had any problems with my custom trucks and I know its because I do things right the first time. But I have come from learning the HARD WAY once or maybe twice lol.

It's basically a fault code sent to the ECM by a component that is registering out of tolerance. Result is saving the engine from killing itself. Usually a limp mode will restrict RPM's to 2k with the V8's.

Nothing you need to worry about.
It is a programmed reduction in power and performance once the engine software decide that certain parameters have been exceeded.
Example, if your rad burst and all the coolant leaked out, you can still run the engine at a very much reduced level of power to prevent overheating.
It "limps".

Say what Well maybe not ordered from the factory but you most certainly can from Mopar Performance and retain your full Chrysler factory warranty too boot. I would bet you can from GM's performance parts arm also Ford has them.

Can you show me the cold air intake for my 2010 Cummins from Mopar?

This part I agree with 100% It is a programmed reduction in power and performance once the engine software decide that certain parameters have been exceeded.
This part is 100% BS

Anytime your vehicle goes into "limp Mode" you had better worry. This is a "here's your sign" moment and you need to sit up a take notice. If you read your owners manual it will tell you to drive to the nearest authorize repair shop. Also if you are towing you are to find a safe location to disconnect your trailer. As in discontinue towing.

WHAT . . . I would NEVER run any vehicle with a burst radiator an all the coolant leaked out. I don't think any manufacturer would recommend that. You try it with your vehicle and let me know the outcome.
