My five-year-old Lance 1191 is holding up well in general, but this year I noticed that the vent for the kitchen fan has yellowed quit a bit and it doesn't look so great.
I was thinking about taking it off and painting it with some of that new krylon paint that is supposed to work well on plastic. Not sure if it will peel or otherwise disappoint after a couple years. Will I wind up wishing I had left it alone? Anybody tried that with yellowing plastic parts?
Any other ways you know of to bring it back to normal white color?

I did exactly that last year on my vent.The Krylon paint was a perfect match and so far it isn't showing any signs of peeling. I have also painted latches and compartment doors with the same results.

I paint a lot of stuff and it sure helps the looks. I think the Krylon plastic paint is trash. I just use regular enamel on everything. A good brand is better than a chain brand ;Walmart, Kmart
ect. Rustoleum, Krylon,any name brand is usually better paint. I just scuff the surface with some scotchbrite to help adhesion.

i used regular enamel 5 years ago and it's still going stong (looks way better than the yellow sun-stained plastic). I washed everything with bleach first, and I think i replaced all the screws with stainless (if they weren't already)

X2 on all of the above. Why they can't make a white that stays white is beyond me (but not beyond a can of spray paint).

I'd paint it with regular Krylon or Rustoleum oil based paint, but I would not remove it. Just mask it off and use newspaper to keep the over-spray off the camper. The sun is what turned the plastic yellow, and it also makes it brittle. There's a very good chance that if you try to remove it, it will break.

Sometimes the cost of a rattle can of paint is more than it cost to replace the cheap plastic. Of course the RV store needs to be close.

Get you some good Citrus based cleaner & that will whiten it up.

Dunno Ive had really good luck using krylon fusion paint for plastic.
But on the vent-I just replaced ours, though cause it was broke mostly. It was looking pretty bad was going to paint but broke before getting round to it. Under $10 localy, cheap but youll also need some putty tap & caulk. Im sure it will also need painting in a few years.

Clean it well and use krylon plastic paint.
