Has anyone used these on their tow vehicle? I was wondering how they compare to BFG All Terrains under load? I have a XLR Thunderbolt 40X12 and need a sturdy tire. Have been using BFG's for years on my F350 SRW, but was considering a change.

My belief is that they will be noiser than the All Terrains. BFG has the All Terrains, then the Rugged Terrains, and the Rugged Trail. The Rugged Trail is stock on many of the Tundras and is quiet on the road. The Rugged Terrains are supposed to be BFG tire that is between the ATs and the Rugged Trails. I just got a set of Rugged Terrains on my Tundra and they have a little tire hum but only around 15 - 20 mph and then basically goes away. I didn't want to go with a mainly off-road tire so the Rugged Terrains appear to be a nice compromise.

The Trail Grapplers are more rugged and blockier than the BFGs. They will be louder and worse for mileage. The Terra Grapplers are more comparable and would be better for towing IMO. I had the BFGs on my 4Runner and they were a great tire but they wear fast. I have new Terra Grapplers on my Tundra now. The Nittos are way quieter and smoother driving but still have the aggressive look. Only time will tell how long they last.

I had a set of terra grappler's. Good tires and fairly quite and great looks, but at 25,000 miles they were done. I believe they have a fairly soft compound. Replaced them with cooper atp. Really like them, good on and off road and 50,000 mile warrenty.

I have a set of Nitto Trail Grapplers at 35x12.50x17 installed on my Cummins. I can say that there is a break in period (500-1000 miles) on them. I did my first tow with them when I was under the 500 mile break in period, and my TT was all over the place with no wind. On the way back, we were about at 700 miles on the tires, and it was rock steady.

They are louder than my Toyo AT's I had on previously, but I wanted something more aggressive and heard nothing but good things about the Nitto's. They are also E load rated, compared to the D load rated Toyo's.

I've tried the Terra Grapplers and they are to soft and I had slot of flats. Here in S.Texas, we can be rough on a set of tires. I run BFG All Terrains because the have a 3 ply side wall and that really helps. Z Apparently the Nitto Trail Grapplers also have a 3 ply side wall and that is why I was looking at them.
