My wife and I are contemplating the purchase of a travel trailer. Our plan would be, at least initially, to find a campground that offers RV storage and camp there. Neither of us owns a vehicle presently that is tow-capable and don't plan on changing that anytime in the near future. We are researching campgrounds in north (specifically northeast) Georgia that offer RV storage. So far, we have found Track Rock, and another campground near Helen. Any recommendations from any of you would be welcome.
Most camp grounds will spot your camper just before you arrive, so you can use it, and you can rent the spot for the year and leave your camper on the spot, are have it put in storage till you come back, anyway saves on pulling it back and forth from camp to home,

I know you said North Georgia, but you should at least take a look at Ocean Lakes resort in Myrtle Beach. I asked a worker and he thought storage was 63ish a quarter. The people that own the 8,000 trailers (I think that is what he said) they store can't all be wrong. Ocean Lakes personnel move your trailer on and off any site you reserve as many times as you want for the nothing, just pay for the site. The trailer does not have to be registered or have tags.
Hopefully someone with more knowledge can help with the numbers and logistics. My first time there was a few weeks ago. I was really impressed with the operation.

Haven't stored anything there but Track Rock is a very nice cg, beautiful views and shade. It's our second favorite cg on the Blairsville side of the mountains. Here's the link to the rates but you'll have to call about the seasonal rates. http://www.trackrock.com/campinfo.html

It certainly was scary to me looking across the highway where Oceans Lakes and Lakewood stores their seasonal Rv trailers. They are really stacked in there and I'm sure they have security force in place. They were all just in a large open parking area surrounded by a fence. We saw the campground folks pulling trailers back and forth alot during our yearly week long stays at LakeWood in Myrtle beach..
Storing my RV Trailer in a storage lot would definatley be a new experience for us especially if they were several states away. I guess that is what Insurance is for.
My Posts are IMHO based on my experiences - PM me Roy and Carolyn

We visited Jenny's Creek CG north of Cleveland, GA a few years ago... they had seasonal campers staying there.
It's not unusual to find seasonal camping at private parks in the area. Check Yonah Mountain and Turner's CG also... Yonah mountain CG is between Cleveland & Helen, Turners is north of Cleveland near Jenny's Creek. I think there are some higher end places with more amenities up that way also.
It seems like there's another near Carters Lake outside of Elijay... I don't remember the name right now.

Ocena Lakes is $55/month paid for by the quarter ($165) and they will prorate. We have ours stored there. Is only $5 more a month than where we had it stored at home. Sames us over $100 in gas from not hauling it there and back each trip. Well worth it. We are about to go on our 2nd weekend trip there and will take our little commuter car that gets 37 mpg. Even a better savings.

Yeah, that is what insurance is for. But the good thing is that entrance into the secured areas is limited. At the storage place at home, we have to squeeze them in there and you don't know who is parking their camper or how well they will do it. Plus there's a chance that one of them will steal something from you. The drivers there are really good at what they do.
If you can find a place in the mountains that operates the way OL and LW does in Myrtle Beach, then that would be a good option. The only thing about seasonals is that you might get a neighbor or neighbors you don't care for. At least with a non seasonal place, you might have one at one time, but the odds of getting a nice one the next time is good. Plus your camper will be sitting out in the open set up for the periods of time you won't be there. Chances of damage or theft. Just things to think about.
