We are in the market for new tires and finally decided Maxxis was the way to go with our 15" rims. Forgot to tell DH when he ordered nothing older than 6 months. We made sure to ask the DOT when we arrived at the tire shop today and they were made in 2009. Huh, really it's 2012. Had it not been for all the searches and the posts we wouldn't have known better and put 3 year old "new" tires on the trailer.

Thanks RV.NET members for sharing your knowledge. It does come in handy.

Wow...good catch and very unusual, especially for Maxxis. Maxxis at times have been out of stock and somewhat difficult to get..
Yours, 2009 date must have been lost somewhere and sitting under a rock at a warehouse.

Our Maxxis were 3 months old when they arrived at the tire shop for installation.

Good work and I bet the Tire Shop folks were looking at each other going "What the ....." Nothing more powerful than an informed customer.

Good catch. I always order under 6 months old, and check before mounting. Very rarely get old ones delivered, but have had it happen. Once 3 of 4 were ok, but one was over a year old. Dealer reordered with no issues.

Once the tech read the date he even shook his head and there were no issues when we said thanks but no thanks.

I've saved a lot of money from tips I gleaned from this forum. I prefer to always DIY when I can, and I've gotten a lot of great suggestions here that allowed me to do more of that vs hiring a tech.

Glad you caught that! An informed consumer is a much more powerful one.
