So high quality steel carcass LRE 16" TIRES should be fine.

Those high quality steel carcass LRE 16" tires have a load rating of 3042 pounds. Multiply that by two and you get 6084. Coincidence? I think the manufacturer intended the trailer to have those tires to begin with.

first step would be to jack up the tire and check for play in the bearings. If excessive, replace bearings. If good, have alignment shop check for a bent spindle or axle.

When the road service tech changed the tire he checked for bearing issues and said it felt fine. He did say the lug nuts felt a little less torque than they should have, but this was by guess. He claimed he has done this enough that he can feel when torque lugs are torqued correctly???????? He did not use a torque wrench.
After seeing the way the tire was warn and flattened on two opposite sides he guessed it was the belts had separated.
I have pictures I took after the wheel was removed of 4 quarter turn views of the tire wear, but can't figure out how to post them. If anyone wants to see them I will send them to you. My email is rvnlillys@yahoo.com

Send them to Roger Marble (Tireman9) and have him look at them. He is a retired tire engineer with many years of failure analysis.

Send him a PM (private message) through RV.NET and see if he is willing to look at the pictures (remember he is retired now). If so, he will give you an e-mail address. I have only communicated with him through PM.

Note: Roger is very thorough and will ask you for a lot of information. Be prepared to gather up what he needs in order to help you.
