Hey, does anyone have any information / tips about crossing the Panama Canal?

I know there's a ferry involved, but I have no idea how to go about the whole thing...

I have a modest 25' 1977 Winnebego Chieftan

Thanks!

There are two major bridges that cross the Panama Canal. The Bridge of the Americas crosses near the Pacific end of the canal and use to be the bridge for the Pan American Highway. Now, a newer main bridge for the highway is several miles north of the Bridge of the Americas.

As Stated above there are two Bridges across the Canal as well as service crossings at the Locks which are usable only at certain times.

If You are planning to drive through to South America it is tha Darien Gap that presents the problem not the Canal. Look it up "Darien Gap" on Google!

I haven't been in long time and then it was Red White and BlueNo problems in Pananma.....much.
Like someone else said the Darien Gap is not realistic unless you into Indiana Jones. Central and South America is "Indian Territory" outside well populated prosperous areas. Farther south in Argentina so forth is a lot better.
I've inquired over the years about going to Patagonia but it would'n
be a road trip through Central America.
I wish I was40 years younger I would like to try it with select companions.

Yeah, I've traveled a lot by vehicle both in North and South America. It's not so dramatic as you might think. I have interacted with several indigenous populations, and they have been nothing but hospitable, as long as I was respectful. But I've never been through Mexico or Central America, and I am completely ignorant about getting from Central America over to South America because I'd like to take the Panamerican from North America to South America.

Thanks for the info! I'll check the webpage out.

The problem is not the indigenous populations in the Darian Gap, it is the drug runners that are dangerous and lethal.

Trying to get more info. I am in europe at present with mixed net access, but i do have someone looking into it. Its a new service. As with most things in latin america, there are always surprises. I do have a contact who is taking a caravan on it in august, so will get more spcifics after that.
