Hey folks, My rooftop ac unit was operating yesterday when it tripped the breaker. I switched the mode switch on the thermostat to the off position, then reset the breaker. Now the compressor is running while the switch is in the off position . I'm thinking maybe the stat is bad? Any ideas would be appreciated, thanks.

If the thermostat is easy to get at, pull it off and remove the wires. If the unit shuts down, its your thermostat.

The odds are the Compressor relay on the control board is stuck closed. It is extremely rare for a tstat to cause this type problem. Doug
