I'm looking for a way to be lazy. I'm bringing Spanish rice on our next camping trip. It will be fully cooked at home. My recipe has me baking it in a 9*13 pan. We will get to camp shortly before dinner. I know I can dump it all into my electric skillet to heat it but I'm wondering if I could just put the pan (with the casserole) in the rectangle shaped electric skillet to heat it. Thereby cutting down on one whole dish to be washed. (I mentioned feeling like being lazy, right)? Has anyone tried this? Thanks for any feedback.

Might want to put a half inch or so of water in the frying pan so you don't scorch either the frying pan or the cake pan ..... and don't be in a hurry .. low and slow

Could you reheat with a crockpot and use disposable liners?

I think I'd put the cooked rice in a good quality zip lock bag and warm it in the skillet. Still only one pan.

Don't you think the bag will melt in the skillet?

Retired Wiley's, I think that is what I'll do! I'll dump the contents into the skillet. Thank you!

I would add extra liquid to the pan before I dumped the rice in.

This is too late to help with the original poster, but, why not line the 9x13 pan with foil before baking at home. Then see if you can just re-shape the foil w/the rice in it to fit the electric skillet, add a little water & reheat. Nothing to clean! I'm all for reducing the number of items that need cleaned!

EllAnn, that is a great idea. I ended up just dumping my pre-made Spanish rice into the electric skillet, tossing cheese on top and heating it. It heated quickly and tasted good. Then I washed both the glass 9*13 and the skillet. No big deal. Thanks to all for suggestions.

I'd put it in a ziplock freezer bag, then when re-heating place bag in boiling water.
