The manual for the Shurflo pump in my new TT specifical says if you run it dry for more than a few seconds you will damage the pump. Like I said some you can and some you can't . . . YOU HAVE TO READ THE MANUAL.
We leave it on unless we leave the trailer for a long day trip also shut off the water at the faucet( if hooked to city water ) heard of to many things that can happen.....Make sure to put away our awning don't want to come back to it flapping over the top of trailer. We also shut off the propane tanks just to be safe. Sometimes we leave our little dog inside the trailer for a few hours and sure don't want anything to happen to her. We only leave her if the weather is cool don't want to come back to an over heated dog....Also, we camp with a club and there is always someone around to help with her....
