Well, I have learned something -- I am from Southern Calif, where gentle breezes blow. But we are heading into the Canadian Rockies this summer -- thunder country. So, at the risk of displaying my ignorance -- how do you tie down the awning?? I don't want to roll it up every time we go away for the day!

Thanks in advance for your advice. And if this should be a separate thread (so that I don't hijack Bob's story), I will re-post.

PS -- Bob, that was well-played -- my guess is that your blood pressure is well under control!

Don't worry, the question is fine here.

I don't know how to tie the awning down either!

Aileen, thanks for the links! Basically, it looks like we loop a rope around each end of the awning roll-up bar and then hook it to an anchor that is screwed into the ground -- I can do that! I would probably add a stout bungee cord as part of the rope assembly to take up slack -- but I might double the bungee cord. Otherwise, it would stretch in a high wind.

I use ratchet straps and long tent stakes.

Thanks!

I got the ones from Camping World - they have a spring between the cord and the anchor for that.
