The Jayco is not cable driven. It is a lipert slide mechanism that is bolted to the trailer frame. It uses wheels that slide along two beams that are gear driven on both sides.

We have the '96 Outback 25RSS and really have enjoyed it. The rear slide is very sturdy...Bride is "tiny" but I am well over 300 lbs and holds very well. The front bunks were ideal when purchased but both our boys are grown now so they sleep on the table and couch...we use the top bunk for storage and keep the lower folded up. The trailer has been very sturdy as well, been through some rough country over the years. No major faults thus far. No matter which TT you choose it will act as a guide for your later TT's...as you will have an idea of what you want.

We just purchased a rear slide 21WRS VLite an love it, but it is just two of us and the dogs. We also looked at the Jayco X213 and Shamrock 23RS and liked both of those. I really, really liked the Jayco floor plan, but DW could not stand the decor. We also did not like the Jayco dealer as much as we liked the Forest River Dealer. If we had kids, it probably would have been a 23RS for us. I like pulling 24 feet but camping in 30. Similar length with slide sides did not seem that much more open to us.

The outback with both rear and side slides is also very nice, but more than I wanted to spend and more weight than I wanted to pull.

Do your research, the right one will tug at your heartstrings and wallet!

We have lived full time in ours for almost six years now and still love our Outback.

Jayco has a good reputation and I don't think you can go wrong with with either brand.

We just bought our 2012 new Jayco X213 back in Feb. We absolutely love it, we have been out 3 weekends with it now and it just gets better and better. The king slide out bed frees up so much room. Sofa is extremely comfortable. We love the 2 windows in the slideout bed for cross ventilation. We have yet to try a full hook up site to test the TV, Microwave. It has a lower center of gravity and it makes for easy towing. It was the only TT that caught my eye at the Early Bird RV show....looked at it closer at the dealership...and the rest is history

Thanks for all the info everyone..I found a outback 250rs not far from me thats a 2007 and he's asking 13500. From my research that seems to be fair. What do you guys think, at what price point would you try to puchase the trailer. it includes the WDH not sure what brand yet and all his hoses and a few other items. I have not looked at the TT yet, just doing some homework incase everything checks out good. Thanks again.

Anyone have any negotiation advise for a private seller trailer as stated in my above post. Its a outback 250rs 2007 and he's asking 13500. Seems to be about right. What price range would you try to purchase it at. I realize its a tough ? since the market is different everywhere, just need to know whats a good starting point. Thanks
