Hi all DW and I are planing a trip that way next month. She is worried that she may not find the brand of wine that she likes and the beer that I like. Can any of you residents up that way tell me if we can purchase "Franzia Refrehsing White" wine ( DW likes the expensive box wine ) LOL. And for me I drink Michelob Lager.

Thanks in advance
Allen

Canada is a big place, could you be a bit more specific of your route through our country before trying to answer your question.

I am not sure if you can get that wine here in British Columbia but there are over 200 Wineries and Vineyards here. Might be the time to try something new?

BC has two retail levels for wine/beer. One is gov't operated and the other private. You can find the complete listings of available here

http://www.bcliquorstores.com/products

The private ones have a much broader access but of course, they don't carry 'everything'. If you don't see what you are looking for in the BC site, then perhaps Google some wine stores in Vancouver to see if they carry the products.

I see that BC has one Michelob product, an Ultra. You might need to check which stores carry it tho.

BC Liquor stores do not carry that wine but do have Michelob 'ultra slim' cans, which is made in the US. They also have another that is made in Canada. They are both about $12.50 a six pack!
As for Canada being a big country, I have often found that Canada is only thought of being directly north. I have had some amazing conversations in the eastern US trying to convince folks that we lived 3000 miles to the west. "No no no, Canada is NOT near Seattle, it's near Niagara Falls!"

Taking beer and wine to Canada is much like hauling coal to Pittsburgh. I am not much of a wine drinker but some of the wines of southern Ontario are great. Especially the "ice" wines where the grapes are harvested after the first frost of fall. Should be able to buy any type wine you desire in any of the provinces or territories.

Canada makes "real" beer, actually has taste and alcohol at a much higher level than most in the US. Many micro breweries as well. The one in Whitehorse, Yukon Brewery is my favorite of any I have ever visited, anywhere. The Yukon Red, just the thought is enough to make me drool. Never found it anywhere but in Yukon.

Just plan to visit any of the package stores in any of the provinces and spend an hour or so browsing. Most of the store clerks I have with have been very knowledgeable about their products. Many products from different Commonwealth nations, that we don't get here in the US, at least in Florida. Bermuda Black Seal rum is cheaper in Canada, than what I can buy it for here in Florida. Black Seal mixed with ginger beer, is a nectar fit for the Gods. LOL

Part of my travel experiences, usually includes trying the local foods and drinks, whenever possible, Canada included;

A friend of mine drinks this very wine, in British Columbia. But it costs about double what it does in the U.S.. Just bring a little extra with you if it's that important. You'll have to pay duty at the border though.

Just remember, B.C. means Bring Cash!
