Just wondering how/where others have their Rand McNally 7710 GPS mounted. The suction mount does not stick to our vinyl padded dash and only for a short time to the wood on the console area.

The old Garmin was smaller so I had it in a sticky weighted mount on the dash.

Thanks

I purchased a plastic disk mount at Radio Shack. That is attached to the dash, then the GPS sucks on that. Rub a teeny bit of hand lotion around the suction rim to keep the seal.

I used velcro and attaced it to the dash. I used the existing dash screws to hold the wire guides. Made a neat job and no more cables all over the place.

I went a different route and installed a pedestal mount for mine. It was replacing a 6.5" monitor used by the OEM GPS system that had died, so I just reused the spot on the dash.

Ordered a couple baseplates and a double-arm, one baseplate mounted on the dash and the other fastened to the back of the plate that holds the 7710, and the double-arm connecting the two. Felt more solid than a bean bag and still allows me to remove the GPS when not in use.

Ours just lays on the cup holder on the floor between the pilot and CEO/Navigator seats. I thought it might have difficulty getting a signal from the satellite, but it works just fine. Now if I can only get my CEO/Navigator to learn how to use it so she can teach me.

I use the disk stuck to the dashboard, and use suction mount to that. Works good and has not fell off yet. With the new DEZL, I use the nonslip bean bag mount that came with it.

Best buys has a large selection of gps mounts. I went with the Bracketron model. It adheres to the dash but without any sticky glue, it's like a tacky material with no residue. Pretty neat. 1 year and has never come off, but if I want to it pulls right away. I have the RVND too and the base is large. This works with it.

Thanks to all for the suggestions.
I ordered one of the mounts from Best Buy and it was even on sale.

Make a base from plexaglass and use velcro to fasten it to the dash, then GPS holder to the plexaglass.. Doesn't need to be very big..Mike M..
