The 5er is a 2010 Sundance 2900MK. I questioned about putting on all new springs and the spring guy so don't bother they don't really wear out. When he tuned up the arch he said it was still good steel. Still though, he didn't buy chinese steel for his spring work. His stuff was all from Canada.

I just recently replaced my 4 leaf 3000 lb springs on my 6000 lb. axels to 6 leaf 3300 lb springs for a little added insurance. Mine were already 8 years old and were losing their arc.

Please don't tell me they welded the spring to fix it... If they did get it replaced ASAP!!! Spring steel is high tensile strength and welding will cause it to become soft and loss its tensile strength.(will no longer spring back as it should). Also if it is not welded correctly, preheated and post heated it can crack or break with out warning!!!

No way. Took the spring apart and put in a new #2 leaf and re arched everything put it back together.

Don't forget to inspect your spring shackles as well.
Often by the time a spring fails, the shackles also require replacement.
Good time for heavy duty shackles w/wet bolts...

I snapped a spring 20 miles from a campground one afternoon last year. Upon closer inspection there were cracks in leaves of 2 other springs.
I paid a premium to have a mobile trailer repair shop come to the campground and replace all four. Would have saved a lot inspecting and replacing pro-actively before trip.
Upgraded from 3000 lb to 3500 lb springs. spring cost was only $45 bucks a piece.
Emergency overnight shipping of each spring cost almost as much as the spring. Ouch!!
Lesson learned, inspect your springs with a bright light occasionally.

The only time I ever had a broken spring(s) was from overloading my trucks. There has to be a reason why it broke. I wouldn't trust the rest of them if I had any one of them break. I went from 2600 to 3000 lbs packs (Dexters recommendation) on my 5er and it was the best thing I could have done. Hopefully the spring shop is right. I'm sure they know springs better than I do. Craig
