That's terrible news. Pets ARE family members, glad you got your truck free, and had the dog with you.

I will be following this thread to indeed see if Marcus chimes in on GS's terrible performance...I'm sure he's going to get all the facts before responding...I just hope it's an unbiased answer!!

Sorry to hear about your loss.
But WOW ! I haven't heard about a lot of camper fires. I have seen a lot of RV blown apart on the interstates from wrecks, but not a lot of fires like yours.

Best of luck. I hope you are back on the road soon.

There was a video made of your RV fire. Someone posted it on YouTube. I know this may be difficult for you to see again, so I apologize for that.

Considering how the wind was blowing that day, you are lucky to still have the truck. Fortunate that the propane did not go off.

I cannot imagine the difficult times you are having right now. Rest assured that I, and probably a lot of other folks, are wishing you the best.

We stayed at the Cabelas there overnight back in 2006. Pulled in with a dead battery and bought a new one there. We have also stayed in a motel there back in 95. My impression of the people in Mitchel is extremely positive. They are all nice and helpful. It is unfortunate that this happened, but at least it happened in Mitchel instead of some place where nobody cares.

Sorry for the misfortune. I am wondering what you wanted Good Sam to do that they were of no help?
Just had a friend here in TX that had his 5er burn up. Was parked in his building shelter with living quarters attached. They figured the refrig started that fire. I know my refrig has a recall item on it and it has gone bad within the year. I asked Norcold why their FIX did not work. Their comment was it did! When the refrig gets too hot this will stop all power to it. Maybe that is what happened to yours. Seems like the recall should be the total unit.

Jacks Campers in Mitchell is a good dealer to work with. We live about 60 miles South when we get home from TX. Guess they had a big Hail Storm that should give some good buys at Jacks. Best to you and know the lose is hard.

Will tell everyone that Good Sam whom we have been a member of for 3 years was NO HELP at all. Also the guy on the phone was positively RUDE to me. I must admit I was hysterical. Plan to cancel policy as soon as I can. We have platinum etc etc.

Sorry for your loss.

I've used Good Sam several times over the years and was generally pleased with their service. Can you be a little more specific about what you wanted from them and what their response was?

Very, very sorry about your cats. And sorry for you and your RV. Very sad.

You say nothing was on but I wonder if the fridge was on? Your fifth wheel was a 2005?

There was an issue with Dometic fridges of that vintage that could potentially cause a fire. More info here on RV.Net at http://www.rv.net/forum/index.cfm/fuseaction/thread/tid/18592867.cfm

Wow - so very sorry for your loss. The firetruck was there in 2 minutes (video time) and had water going in a little over 3 minutes ... which probably saved your truck.

Very sobering that it went up that fast. You said "every thing was off" but my first thought was the Dometic RV Refrigerator Recall - Fire danger - ah, I see it got posted above already.

Best wishes to you in this.
