I picked up my 2013 Salem 26BUD today and it's funny things you don't notice. Mainly, there is no way to get into the bathroom with the slide closed which is quite an inconvenience with my children. I'd also like to be able to use the bathroom while it's parked beside the house if needed.

The opening is big enough to just squeeze in.... if the door weren't there. So, is there an aftermarket accordian door I can replace the existing swinging door with? If so, any idea on where to find it.

Thanks

Try old TT's. we recently bought an 85 Wilderness and it has a very nice woven wood accordian door (made in USA), much better than anything made today. So look on Craig's List and see if anyone is parting out old TT's. Your problem is one of the reasons I won't buy a trailer with slide outs.

Bought one at Home Depot years ago and it worked great. Good luck and I hope things work out well with your new rig.

Sounds like a poor design. I have never been inside an RV with the slides closed that the bathrooms were not accessible. This is the first time I have heard of such thing.

I just bought one at Home Depot for about $50. It is a double-sided vinyl. It does the job for a lot less money than other places were quoting me, but it's not the greatest. Home Depot also sells some better ones, take a look at their website. Other places wanted $300 for almost the same thing that I bought.

My TT is the same way - with the slide closed there isn't quite enough room to squeeze between the partially open door and the slide itself. When I'm parked, I simply leave the door open against the hallway wall and you can get in the bathroom as needed. Doesn't work for traveling, but I don't use the TT bathroom when traveling...

I used this when I replaced the bathroom door http://tweetys.com/fabric-folding-doors.aspx

Very well made and complete. I used it to widen the door for wheelchair access.

Is there a way to leave the door open with the slide in? On ours we can't because the door handle hits the wall so for now I just open the slide a bit. One day I plan on cutting a hole in the wall and filling with a rubber cupholder from a car for the knob so the door lays flush against the wall.

We have the accordion style door to close off the queen bed area like posted above but I wouldn't want that on the bathroom.

Not being able to enter the bathroom with the slide retracted is the exception rather than the rule. It is a major inconvenience and a first time buyer probably wouldn't think about looking for that feature. If it's possible to open the slide six or eight inches and enter the bath, then I'd do that before making any changes to the door. Not sure why you'd need to use the RV bathroom at home but opening the slide a few inches when needed while traveling shouldn't cause too many problems.

We had 2 Arctic Foxes with slides, and it was an adventure getting to the bathroom with the slide closed. One of my pleasures when traveling is to pull off the road in a nice spot to relax, eat lunch or whatever. Can't do that very well with a slide in the way.
