How all this will help you is don't spend the money only because the salesperson tells you it will do what they say.

I have a friend that did the Banks upgrade on his 1986 P30. He swears by it and keeps telling me to spend the money on it. He said he did get a mile or 2 better in MPG, but he said the power increase was worth it. He no longer notices his toad at all and that was his main goal. If I had the ~$3k I would be doing the upgrade myself.

Before I went with a DP we looked long and hard at single slide gassers on a WH chassis. I researched every mod available for the 8.1L GM engine. I also saw a couple of the pistons that got rattled and collapsed the top ring groove. It does not take much to kill a hypereutectic piston. Their higher silicone content does not like any detonation. Do what you want with your money but I personally would stick with stock programming and a shorty header installation.

I had it put on my 460 f-53 chassis. It was well worth the money, esp when climbing hills. No mpg change.

Were EFI. I could care less about milage increase. Im looking for improved HP an Torque up grades. But before I lay out 3k or more installed I would like some first hand FEED BACK from EFI Gas Coach owners who have had this installed.

Has anyone that has replied installed the Banks System on a 8.1? Doesn't sound like it.

I have thorley headers on my 05 W22 chassis rig. The headers set me back $500. Exhaust work was another $250. I will be ordering the UP computer flash in a few weeks. That will put me in for less than $1500 total. I do all my own work... so that gives you an idea of the hardware cost...which banks overcharges for.

You can search posts here and other sites... banks is a retail kit aimed at the deep pocket customer. Youre not gaining 20mph on grades and youre not getting diesel rig torque... but the gains are nice enough that you may recoup the cost of the kit in say 60000 miles or so.

I would! Because anytime you build up a engine (gas or diesel) beyond its manufacturer's specifications you are taking life longevity away from that engine.

pat... you would be a fool to buy "cast parts" over quality 321 or 304 fabbed counterparts. Making intake/exhaust more efficient doesnt decrease longevity... infact the opposite.
I wouldnt pay $5k... but the cost difference in the materials would be justiified. Especially when cast manifolds are NOTORIOUS for breaking/cracking/retaining heat.

With my 2007 W22, 8.1, Allison 1000 6 Speed that if I put the Power Pack System on I will see a 20MPH increase up 6 percent grades.

Does anyone have first hand experience with a before and after install that can validate this?

You'll see an increase in speed....at the price of increased fuel consumption..but Id never lay $$ on 20 MPH. He's just giving you salesman speak is all.

You will also have to burn 92 octane gas. What's the benefit?

you are incorrect. making intake/exhaust efficient doesnt require an increase in octane. You are getting more air in/out. You are not changing the compression/cam timing.
No kit requires high octane. Do some research/reading before spouting off untruths.

These rigs are designed in a way to suit coach makers and EPA regs. Not the best design for the end user. Some folks are happy with "stock"... then theres the small percentage that are discriminate.

I have never found a "stock" engin that coulden't be made to run better and last longer.

When I had the banks power installed, It included a power chip that required 92 octane. My research was complete, I have a right to spout off about true facts.
