Does anyone subscribe to the Good Sam Emergency Assistance Plus?
Am 77 yrs old, pull a 5er, and get around pretty ell. Have had medical problems over the years, and just wondering if the Assistance Plan with Good Sam might be a good idea. Anyone carry this, or have any thoughts on its benefits or downfalls?

We have had it for a few years and used it once. I was pretty impressed, they were more concerned with our safety and I almost had to send a affidavit saying yes, we were safe and off the road.
I'm only 57, a mere child, and we've had the service for a few years, but have never (knock on wood) had a reason to call them.
Even though you feel rather independent, when it comes time to change a tire, or some other roadside event, you'll be glad that you had them there to help you. I have read many stories about folks just pulling over to the side of the road, starting up the generator, and relaxing until they arrive.
Much better than getting all dirty, pulling muscles (or worse) trying to do these jobs yourself...assuming you have all the right tools?

I think you are talking about the additional Medical Emergency Plus coverage rather than the RV coverage. This is the one where they act as an "advocate" in case of medical problems in strange areas and see to it that you get the best possible care. They also take care of your rig and spouse and see to it that they get home ok.
Yes, we have had it for the past several years but have not had to use it. It is peace of mind knowing that there is help available when in far from home locations. I have a history of heart problems and it is worth the approximately $100 annual cost, in my opinion.

GS Emergency Medical Plan-----Another way to look and judge if it is worth it!!!
Given up 3 dinners a year in a resturant VS the confidence of knowing that your significant partner will not have to deal the problems of getting your RV rig, your truck and your significant other back home safe and sound!!!
The only thing that is constant in life is the fact that each year we get older and the probabilty of needing this type of service gets greater

What if you're traveling on dirt roads to boondock camp sites out in the middle of nowhere? Is there any "roadside" assistance plan that will help you in these situations?
We have had AAA Premier Service for several years, but have never needed it offroad yet. Just in case, regarding tire problems, we carry comprehensive tire changing equipment with us at all times. Even on regular hard surface roads and highways, you can wind up in out of the way locations where cell phones won't get out and where other drivers passing by are few and far between.
I'd like road service protection insurance that would offer help in ANY LOCATION we could get our motorhome to! Does it exist? Good Sam roadside assistance plans SHOULD offer this optional type of coverage ... but I'll bet they don't. For instance, large 4X4 tow/service trucks can probably be located to always help in the boondocks on dirt roads, but they can cost many $$$ to come out to where you might be - so a roadside assistance plan to pay for it would be great to have just in case.
I have GS Emer Ser. Blew an engine on my 40 footer one hot July day. GS was concerned about my safety and called for a sheriff's deputy when they were told I was blocking the south bound lane of a two lane state road and unable to move. However, I waited 7 and 1/2 hours for a tow truck. Finally motorhome was towed to the shop of the wrecker driver (father and son business) for repair. The next weekend I had to drive the 150 miles in my car to retrieve papers for the warranty company and discovered their shop was a back yard deal and not equipped to repair my unit. I assumed GS did what they said they would do by paying the towing fee the first time so I paid to have it towed to another shop of my choice. A GS rep saw my post when I responded to another RVer and contacted me personally. When they learned of the circumstances and the additional towing fee ($900.00) they reimbursed me. Praise for Good Sam. I recommend the service.
Folks,
The question the OP asked was about the Good Sam Emergency Medical Plus policy. It was NOT about the GS Emergency Road Service as some of you are commenting on. It is not fair to the OP to hyjack his thread in a different direction by commenting on Road service instead of Medical service.

As Moderator BarneyS is trying to get across . . . . . .
Good Sam Emergency ROAD Service "ERS" - is for your RV.
Good Sam Emergency Assistance Plus - is MEDICAL Assistance - for "people".
It would appear the GS *Emergency Assistance Plus Plan* - is the same
as the American Legion endorsed *Emergency Assistance Plus Program*. Prices are identical.
Probably via the same insurance provider (A.G.I.A.,Inc.,Phoenix, AZ)
~
BTW - there are also two other services which may include more features (and are more expensive):
