I'm new to TTs,the third mod I did was a 6" belly pipe, behind the axel, beside the blackwater drain.Stuffing a rhino in the bumper tube didn't appeal to me. Even after those cloth diapers years ago,I'm still a little squimish. And it's likely not too good for the steel, either. My question is,did you guys drill breather and or drain holes? I used screw-on sewer "caps" with gaskets instead of the more common socket/pipe thread connector and plug. THX

I drilled several small holes in each of my end caps. Should be enough to let it breath, and small enough to keep the insects and gravel out.

Drill a couple of holes in the bottom to let any water drain out. I drilled 1/8" holes in mine.

What is the issue with just using the bumper storage? I'm not saying I would eat off my stinky slinky but it isnt filthy. I dump the black first, then the grey. Then I flush clean water through the slinky.

I do the same and feel the same. Have never seen the fear of the "black snake".

The metal storage tubes rust, the hose gets dragged over this rust, and pretty soon you have a sprinkler system instead of a drain hose.

I just got a new camper this year but last year my camper was a 1977. I never saw rust and camped three years with no leaks from the slinky and the hose looked to be several years old when I got it.

You have had good luck, then. I have seen rust, and have also seen leaks starting on the hose from my own trailer (not the one I have now;no metal slinky storage on this one at all)
I have also seen the original metal tube on my parents' trailer rust out completely (1980's Prowler).
