When I connect my TT to the tow vehicle, all the outside and inside lights work including the slideout and the refridgerator. Now when I disconnect it and plug the electrical cord to the electrical outlet the AC and microwave will work but the interior lights will not come on, nor will the fridge or the slideout. They used to work well with no problems. Any idea as to what is going on?
Thanks,

Sounds like a problem with the converter. Check fuses and circuit breakers

I would say that when plugged into your vehicle you are getting 12v DC from it. When plugged into an AC source your converter is not converting to DC. Anything that requires DC voltage won't work. Your converter could be bad or it could simply be a blown fuse.

Check the voltage @ the battery, if it is OK then check it @ the converter, if still OK then you will need to check deeper. Sounds funny that all seems to work plugged into truck but not when unplugged. This indicates no power from the 12V side in the camper.
My feet are fine as long as they are traveling.

Only thing that makes any sense is that the battery is fully discharged and the camper's converter is not working.
With the shorepower unplugged, check the voltage across the battery...fully charged should be about 12.7V. Check across the battery with the shorepower plugged in. You should see at least 13.5V if the converter is working properly.

Okay, just checked the batteries and they are quite low, about 7 if I did it corrrectly. I did have a Battery Tender Jr. on it, but the light was not on indicating the batteries were not being charged. If it is the converter, will the tow vehicle charge the batteries back up during a two and half day drive? Would that be suffiencent enough to just use the lights in the TT, or will I need to get a converter ASAP? I will be going to Yellowstone and since there is no electricity out there all I will need is the lights at night.

As you'll be camping without electrical hook-ups, the converter won't matter. The tow vehicle should charge the batteries during the tow. If you run a generator, hook-up a 10A battery charger directly to the batteries for charging, otherwise you'll have to charge by running the tow vehicle.

As a precaution, drive for a day disconnect and check the battery at a convenient spot. If the voltage isn't around 12 (13.8 is optimal) then either your system does not charge the battery in transit or your battery is not holding a charge.
If the battery is more than 3yrs old replace the battery. Please remember my opinion is worth exactly what you paid for it but I have been in your shoes...sadly more than once.
My experience with Battery Tender Jr is not very good.

I would charge the battery with a charger and then have it tested, Since it is only reading 7 volts there is a good chance that the battery is shot and that is the reason the convertor is not charging it. It cannot charge a shorted battery, so you probably would be better off just starting your trip with a new battery instead of driving 2 days and finding out you need a new battery way out in the boonies where you can't find one. Good luck Chances are with a good battery you will find out that the convertor is OK, so start with the battery first.

Do you have a battery disconnect switch? It sounds like fuse or disconnect. Lights should be on but real dim even at 7 volts. You need to have a properly charged battery so you can do some more trouble shooting.
