My DW and I were in Ushia, AR and went to the Southermn most brewery in the world. They brew mostly heavy beers and thier Porter was fantastic. Can't get it here but the best I ever tasted.

Bluepint Brewery - "No Apologies" or "Ole Howling bastard"

Just to name a few

IF you're in Boston...a good fresh Harpoon IPA is a good session drink.

In bottles...the Sierra Nevada Torpedos aren't bad. Stone IPA. Dogfish 60 minute IPA. Sam Adams Latitude 48 IPA. There are too many to choose from...and they are all fanstastic! Oh, Fat Tyre, Magic Hat, Dead Guy, Stoudt's, the list can go on forever!!

The thing about IPA's is...it's a hard beer to mess up. They use an abundance of hops...it's a pretty simple ratio to keep the malt balance to an acceptable range...so no matter who's IPA you try --- you're likely to enjoy it IF...

It's not been left to get hot and light struck in the bottles. Our local Tequesta Brewing Company makes a very nice IPA called Gnarly Barley. It's hard to beat a fresh brewed IPA...the HOPs really POP!

Of course this style of beer was originally made with high alcohol content and high hop content to survive the long sea voyage from Great Britain to India. It could take months for the beer to reach it's destination...the added components are preservatives. So the beer style is made to take abuse...BUT you can really tell the difference.

Enjoy!

I'll second Sierra Nevada Torpedo, and add Lagunitas IPA.
If you get to Reno, have an "Ichy". Great Basin Brewery makes Ichthyosaur IPA in honor of the fossil in central Nevada.

So many beers, so little time:

Stone Brewing Co. Ruination IPA, Arrogant Bastard Ale, Double Bastard, Stone IPA

Odell's India Pale Ale, 5 Barrel Pale Ale, 90 Schilling's Ale,

Dogfish Head 60, 75, 90, or 120 minute pale ales. All of them are great.

There are so many it is hard for me to narrow it down.

Happy hunting in your quest to find your favorites, you wont be sorry if you try to taste every one out there!!!!!!!!

Great lakes Commodore Perry plus all the about except the Budweiser swill.

Also if your in Western Pa. there is a small brew pub in Slippery Rock that makes one called Stinky Hippy. Very pungent Hops (kinda like dirty socks) but great stuff. The bad part is they only brew it about twice a year and it doesn't last long.
