Is there anyone using Dish VIP612 DVR with the Winegard Carryout? If so, how well does it work?

We've used a 612 with a dome, which should be similar to a Carryout. It does work on the primary tuner. The secondary tuner used only for recording won't work.

I had a 612, now use a 512. No particular reason for the change.
I have both (2) cables ran from the dish.
Works fine but will record on second ONLY if the primary and secondary channel are on the same satellite.
I have learned over time which of our favorite channels are on the same sat.
