i have a class a coach.i heard awning can blow off.
anyone use an awning clamp.
im worried about drilling holes in the side panels hidden
wires or who knows what, leaks
I don't know how to make that link clickable, but it should give you some ideas of what is available. I have a manual a & e awning, use the awning lock - no drilling into the rv, that was important to me. I am a fulltimer, travel all over the US, and have never had the awning unfurl - so I guess the awning lock works.

I checked out that website. Definitely going to look into it. Although I have never had the awning come loose while driving, I don't want to risk it. I have seen awnings tear up when people have left the awning out when a storm came through with high winds. Not a pretty sight. So, I never leave my awnings out when I know a storm is brewing.
This one is cheap and requires no holes to be drilled. You can get the parts at any hardware store.
You can see the instructions HERE
I have used one for several years. It would take one heck of a side wind to overcome it.

I made a similar setup for my rig. Same, except I drilled and pop-riveted the D rings to the roller ends rather than hose clamps, and I used a plastic covered steel cable rather than the chain. The cable ends are formed into loops and secured with the aluminum things that you clamp in a vise to fix them in place. Has worked well for me and is easy to use.
