Unfortunately, all of the drive-ins within an hours drive from here have closed, with the exception of one in Quebec that has one English screen. We moved to Ottawa one block from the Airport Drive-In in the early 90's and went often. When my daughter was born in 1997, we knew it was the last year for the drive-in, so we have a picture of her in her bassinet behind the car (backed it in because sound was better from behind the car) at 2 months old while we were watching Batman and Robin. Many fond memories of drive-ins, expecially some of the all-nighters.

Ah, the joys of the Rt 46 drive-in Totowa, New Jersey Summer of 1957 in my '49 Pontiac Chieftain coupe with Maryann. Such youthful bliss. She passed away in 2010 and that Summer's memories..and many others..warm me to this day.

Around 1954/55, a friend and I rode a horse into the local drive-in movie. Put a blanket on the ground, tied the horse to the speaker pole. That drive-in is now the site of a Wally World; however, there is an active drive-in about twenty miles away.

We still have the Holiday Twin in Fort Collins. They show first-run movies as double features. Wife and I just saw MIB3 and Hunger Games there about 2 weeks ago. Always a great time there...bring a pizza and watch the sun set over the Rockies.

Oldest drive-in in Ohio is located near Strausburg. Supposedly, it is the second-oldest in the country. Two screens offer double features, that's four currently-released movies each night from which to choose.

My first job was in a drive-in theater. I was about 11 years old. I learned a lot!!!

We still have one my area. It is a treat that I try to do every season.
If you're in the Townsend Tennessee area.
