Hi we have decided we want to leave our trailer at a particular campground in the Myrtle Beach area. Our insurance up here in Canada only gives around 6 months US coverage per year.
Does anyone know where we can get year round US coverage on our trailer being stored at the US campground even while we are not using it keeping in mind we are Canadian with our residence up here in Ontario?
Thanks

You will probably have to get the insurance from a US firm. Use the campground address as your address for the insurance.

Try Foremost Insurance. They will insure your camper if it does not move and is stationary. http://www.foremost.com/

Thanks for the replies. I am going to add to my original post with more info. The trailer park we want to leave our trailer at would store it year round. When we want to go down and stay in the park they would tow it to a spot (or we may do that ourselves depending on the park as the one we really want to stay at doesn't tow 5th wheels). When we leave to come home it goes back into storage.
Our insurance here in Ontario tells us that we are only covered for 6 months outside of Canada and only if we are physically with the trailer. Can't find any insurance company to insure it for the whole year in the US.
We phoned down to a Camping World in South Carolina and they said there was a kind of 'work around'. Register your trailer in SC and insure down there. A U.S. address is required, he said to rent a U.S. post office box and have the mail forwarded to us here in Canada. I am just not sure we can get a U.S. company to insure us for what we need.
Any ideas?

Have you checked with CAA?

Vacation Trailers
The Lifestyles vacation trailers plan covers your travel trailer, 5th wheel trailer, tent trailer or truck camper on a stand-alone policy. To ensure your insurance coverage is right for your property, there are three packages to choose from, as well as an array of convenient payment options.

Coverage Available:

One call provides coverage over the phone
Personal property coverage included
Low $200 deductible
Includes emergency vacation expense coverage
Up to $5,000 golf cart coverage
Three package options: Standard, Standard Plus or Deluxe package
Deluxe offers replacement cost for units 14 years or newer, few exclusions, increased amount of emergency vacation expense coverage included
Year round occupancy coverage available
Coverage extends all across Canada and the continental USA
Expert 24/7 claims network anywhere in North America
Multiple payment options available in addition to monthly pre-authorized payments.

Quite frankly, I'm surprised that there is such difficulty when I'm sure there are plenty that do this exact same thing. Mind you, i have never looked into it myself.

@dieharder: We are CAA members and have called them to inquire already. They said they don't insure more than 3 months in the U.S.

@moparmom: We gave Foremost a call and yes they do offer the type of insurance we require with only one caveat. We need to register our trailer in SC (U.S. somewhere). So when we go down in August we will be trying to get that done. Thanks for the tip!
