After much research I am still a little confused about the mounting of the transponder. In my reading it appears there may be problems with mounting it on the windshield of the motorhome or my Jeep due to them being more vertical than other vehicles. I would also want to be able to switch it between the two vehicles so that I could use it when towing in the MH or when touring by the Jeep itself. I am interested in the experiences of other Jeep and MH owners???

Not a Jeep or MH owner but an EZ Pass ans Sun Pass owner...If your Sun Pass works there....so will your EZ Pass

I don't think it has mounted at all... My friend was hauling his boat to northern Maine last summer for a fishing trip. He though there would be problem with the boat trailer and EZ-Pass so he took his transponder off the windshield, put it in the radiation protective bag and threw it in the glove box. He drove the length of the Maine Turnpike and paid the appropriate tolls. In the next month's statement from EZ-Pass they charged him for not only the car but the trailer as well on that trip.

I think you can just lay it on the dash or almost anywhere else and it will work. Test it out , what's the worse that can happen, they send you a bill in the mail.

Vertical Windshields

It is sometimes difficult for the lane equipment to "read" a transponder signal. For vehicles with vertical windshields, such as Jeeps, buses, or trucks it is recommended that the I-PASS transponders be mounted in the center of the windshield, about one to two inches from the bottom of the window.

I tried mounting mine at the top of the windshield (in the motorhome) and it didn't read. I moved it center bottom and it reads fine. I just put it on the dash in the CRV when using that vehicle.

Ours is mounted near top of windshield in center. I just checked and it worked fine on our trip we are on. I would mount it and check your account and see if it worked. There are velcro strips you use to mount, so you can take it from one vehicle to another, just remember to register them all.

Another point: one of my neighbors has the license plate mount transponder. He think his car is to hansom to have that ugly white thing hanging in his windshield... (you know the type of person I'm referring to). Why wouldn't that work for you as well? I don't mean to imply your that type of person.

As for your question about switching the transponder between the MH and the toad .... you will need separate transponders. I have one for when I'm towing my TT and the other for just the truck. Otherwise, you will be paying the higher rate when you're in the toad or possibly ticketed for using the toad transponder in the MH. Camp on!

Not sure about the mounting angle issue, but the mounting method on ours here in Maryland is a velcro-type of mount. So you can detach it and just hold it up to the glass in different places to see what works. I'd recommend the passenger help with that! :-P

We are able to have just one transponder and move it between vehicles as needed. There is a website we use to manage the vehicles allowed per transponder. I suppose you could have two separate transponders, but they would both register through the toll booth unless you pack the TOAD's in the radiation bag (have to seal it real good though or it may still get read.) I would think that the EZ-PASS on your motorhome would get charged for two additional axles when you have to TOAD. So you don't want the other transponder getting a charge too.

I have both a class A motorhome and a Jeep Saraha Unlimited. I mount the EZ Pass for the M/H at the top of the center of the windshield using the velcro strips. This is an EZ Pass for motor homes with dual rear wheels. I have a separate EZ Pass mounted on the Jeep at the top center of the winshield using the same Velcro strips. I remove the Jeep EZ Pass when I tow the Jeep and place it in the foil wrapper to keep it from being read also as I go through the toll plazas. The plazas read that I have a vehicle in tow and charge accordingly. Hope this helps.

I have a mh and Honda Fit - use 1 transponder - moving it from Fit to mh. I asked IL - (I have an I Pass - use for EZ Pass) where to afix on mh windshield. I was told to put it near the center, below the shaded portion. So far, so good. Fit location is slightly below/side of rearview mirror
