I'm having trouble with my refrigerator as it won't cool to the proper temp in either the freezer or the fridge unit. It is sweating over the 'fins' in the fridge and the fins occasionally freeze then defrost on their own. It is still on #9 on the temperature gauge where the tech put it about a month ago.
I do have your Extended warranty coverage. We did contact a reputable RV repair service to come and inspect it and the tech installed some parts which didn't fix anything. None of the parts were covered under your warranty so we had to pay for them 'out of pocket'.
The RV tech has been talking to the factory techs concerning this and it was found out why those parts didn't work, because the refrigerator "cannot be repaired" and a new one is required as the old one can be a fire hazard. My Warranty will NOT replace the refrigerator!!! What have I been paying for if my warranty won't cover anything????
Please help me!!!!!!!!!

The frig is mainly a box and the cooling unit. Get a new Amish 1200 cooling unit and get past the Norcold cooling unit design defect.

Installing more parts may fix some of the problems, but the contacts between the fridge door and the metal buttons inside the 'box' are burnt and one of the contacts on the door is melted and stuck inside. That's why the parts installed in the first place didn't work and are probably 'bad' by now.

Like I said an RV frig is mainly a box and a cooling unit. If the box is bad I expect it would not be worth the labor bill from a shop to replace the box even if you found free one.

So, you are saying I should have the fridge replaced by my Extended Warranty or what?

Did you contact Scott as requested?

Would be very interested in knowing the outcome of this problem. Our GSESP is expiring, and am on the fence about renewing or not.

What is this Amish 1200 thing? I thought they only made furniture and RV's.

I did PM Mr. Blanc, but haven't heard from him about this. I guess that was what he meant when he said to contact him directly??!!
I left him with our Good Sam Extended Warranty reference number and my phone number so he could get in touch with me.

Larry this is the source. Pines RV Refrigeration of Shipshewana, IN

We went with a remanufactured option in our 1992 6162 Norcold. That is not an option for the Norcold 1200 because that cooling unit new is built too light in design and in the materials use to be safe and long lasting so as to make rebuilding a sound, safe out of the old ones possible in a technical/legal sense as I understand it.

When you look at photos of the Norcold vs. Amish 1200 design you will see the difference at a glance. There are several threads with photos on the forum as well.
