So, so sorry for the loss of your fur baby. I'd say more but my screen is blurry.

Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving
safely in one pretty and well preserved piece, but to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, worn out and defiantly shouting "Wow, what a ride!".

so sorry to hear of your loss. We put our loving Pug of 12 years down a couple of weeks ago. She was 16 years old and very declining health but it still leaves a hole in your heart. I tell my friends Tobi is still camping with us all the time.

So sorry for your loss of Miss Annie. I work at an animal clinic and I know how hard this time is for you. When we have to euthanize I always cry...even for the little critters I don't. So I've got the tissues out and hoping you will take comfort in all the kind words. Of course you didn't lie to Annie she's just gone camping without you.

Wolfcat, Your story brings tears to my eyes. I remember the day I had to do the same thing. I had a little maltese named Ciera that was 13 years old and had been fighting congestive heart failure for several years. I had to do it on January 10,2003, and I am still not over it. I hope it is some consolation to you to reassure you that it gets easier as time goes by, but the hurt never ever completly goes away. I have another maltese now named Abby that helps make the hurt easier, but I never forget about Ciera. As a matter of fact, Abby is laying on my lap as I write this. I really do know how you feel. It was the worst day of my life. I hope reading all of these posts makes you feel somewhat better knowing we all sympathize with you and reassure you that you did the right thing. My little Abby is looking up at me wondering why I am wiping my eyes right now. I am so sorry for your loss

Wow! What a support group we have here. I can't add anything that hasn't been said. When I lost Taz at 18yrs. I couldn't post it but should have as reading your post I would have gotten some comfort. Cathie

A neighbor that lives down the street who lives alone lost his toy poodle of 17 years about 8 months ago.
I was walking my standard poodle a few weeks before he put his friend down, and tears were flowing from his eyes as he relayed that she was so full of arthritis he could not take her outside without carrying her everywhere.

Fast forward about 6 month's
I was thrilled to meet him out for a walk just the other day with a huge smile on his face coming across the road with a bouncing cute little miniature poodle on a leash just a year old that he was given by a family that could not keep it any longer.

This man does not have a lot of means and I was even more thrilled when he told me that although the family selling it wanted money for it yet after meeting him they just gave it to him as it was apparent that the dog and him were meant for each other.

It is so very hard to say goodbye for a period of time until we see our pets at the bridge but it is possible to love another as I believe dogs are put on this earth to teach us to be better people in spite of ourselves

Take care.

I know this is a little late, but I am so sorry for your loss. It sounds like you gave her a wonderful life.

What's the famous quote - "I hope I can become half the person my dog thinks I am"??

To the OP: cherish the memories and let them heal the hole in your heart.......
