Well I needed a quick getaway for the weekend. I have to take advantage of the time before my wife leaves town. We are doing some remodeling of our house, and when she leaves, I will have to be here.
I don't know much about Lockhart SP. I do know that I will be eating BBQ for all my meals to try out all the different places. Some call Lockhart the BBQ capital of Texas. I've eaten there, but it will be fun to compare them all over one weekend.
I'll let you know what it is like. I won't be stopping at Buc-ees this time. I ate enough of that delicious jerkey to gain almost ten pounds of water weight. I felt like a walking water bed!!
Oh yeah, I couldn't get a full hook up site. Instead, I am in a pull through with just water and elctric. DW bought me a 4-wheel Barker tote, so I will be trying that out for the first time. My tiny little 15 gallon gray water holding tank doesn't seem to make it past the second day.
Jim,
You might be interested in the "Day Tripper" PBS show episode on Lockhart, which has quite a bit of info on the BBQ: http://thedaytripper.com/episodes/episode-203-lockhart-tx
Have fun on your trip. We did Meridian State Park last weekend, would you believe we had the biggest TT (because we had the ONLY TT) in the park? The pull-thrus are out of commission due to electric issues, only 20' back-in spaces available. A great time to have a 16' trailer.

Thanks, Smokedummy! Loved the video. I've been to all of them but the Chisholm Traail. Maybe I'll save some time and just go straight there. My personal favorite BBQ is Coopers in Llano (not anywhere else!).
I did not know about the jailhouse and other sites mentioned in the video. I will have to take a nice excursion to the downtown area.
Most interesting "sidelining" I've done was in Lockhart SP where an Airstream was trying to navigate between 2 trees in the pull through next door. And the wife's instructions were {ahem} interesting to say the least (and yes, I'm a woman and was ashamed for her LOL).
And funny, my 15 gal tank gray tank does manage to barely survive the weekend. But I now carry a blue tote just in case.

I know mine would last also, if I tried to be conservative. To be totally honest, I was actually surprised on my last trip that it filled so quickly. I usually have to run more water to fill it so I am ready to dump the black tank.
Okay. I put the whole trip in my blog. Photos are at the bottom. If you scroll down, you will see my review of the BBQ in list form. I took photos of all of it but lunch at Smitty's.

Great info on your blog! Based on your reviews, I would probably try Chisholm Trail first, then Smitty's. I'm a fan of pork ribs myself.
Regarding the state park - did the sites have the electric and water hookups on opposite sides of the drive? If so, that's odd but I guess it works.
