I just purchased a Winegard Carryout and was wondering what creative ideas do you have for the 12 volt power requirement. I was thinking of just running an outlet directly from the battery but then it would be out in the open are would get corroded with time so looking for ideas. Thanks Ed

You could cut the plug off and hardwire it with waterproof connectors, 12v extension cord, then to the battery, or a 12v receptacle attached to the battery.

You can purchase a female trailer plug receptacle like on the tow vehicle, and wire it to a 12volt outlet and just use the hot wire in the trailer plug.

The power cord that comes with the carryout is pretty long, I just bought a female 12 volt plug that has clips on the other end it is about 12 inches of wire, I connect that to my battery and plug the carryout male 12 volt plug into that and it works well, dont cut the the plug off your cord you may want to power it from your car or truck someday, they sell water resistent 12 connectors if your battery is out side my batteries are in a a dry compartment but the cord fits under the door.

I cut a hole and installed a port so I could store my cord just like a power cord. I secured the 2 cables together every 10 inches with heat shrink. I did install a 12 volt regulated power supply after having problems any time the pump ran. I have to say it sure has been nice not having to set up a dish on a tripod anymore.

Great ideas. I was thinking of the outside receptacle from West Marine but also like the idea of the clips to the battery with the receptacle. Can't make up my mind.

I ran a 110V 14ga extension cord from one of my bays to the wet bay where external Sat connection is made. Then purchased the 110 to 12 V power supply for Carryout and just plug the 12 V in to it in the same place I bring the Sat cable in. I figured that I will be plugged in to something whenever I am using the Sat so might as well use that power - also considered using the outlet for my block heater as the 110 source but had an outlet in an adjacent basement compartment that was actually easier to get to.

I also use the 110V to 12V adapter with my trailer. I just plug the adapter into an outside 110V outlet and put the whole works up on top of a tire if there is a chance that it might rain.
