I just use the outlet in my truck. Once the satelitte finds the signal I then put away the 12 volt plug. You do not have to leave it plugged in once its tracked the signal

I put a marine type receptical in the refer compartment for mine.

I also unplug mine most of the time also.

True it does move if you choose a channel that uses a diffent sat, but I have learned pretty much most of the channels we watch are on one sat.

Occasionally I'll need to plug it in to get some of the movie channels from the other sat.

Just called Winegard Tech Support 1-800-788-4417 and they said if I wanted to watch just one satellite and you received all desired channels from that one satellite it is OK to disconnect, but if you want to watch another channel that is on another satellite then you have to have power.

We have direct tV and he dish changes sat's depending on what station your watching you can hear it move when you change channels
