It seems that for Lance, the truck side connector is critical at least for the the recommended 8 gauge wire for pos and neg battery connection.
That said, is it possible to make a "pigtail" connection to connect to the 7 pin connector at the hitch nnstead of wiring a more permanent connection in the truck bed?
I ask this because our current truck is a 1996 chevy with 166 plus miles.
If there is no good alternative, so be it. I will probably drive this truck another 4 years.
Also, concerning torklift tie down brackets. It looks like what I would buy could be useable up to to 2000 model year chevy 2500-3500. If I went to a newer model truck, is the only option to sell the torklifts and buy new?

Three truck campers since 1987 and all have been plugged into the trailer hitch wiring in the back by the receiver. Never a problem.

The plug is different. A pigtail is needed. You might look at the xtremcampers website or any Lance dealer and see if they sell the pigtail.

jmtandem. Thanks again.
It sounds like you have knowledge of connecting a 7 pin connector to a Lance pigtail.
Or are you saying it is possible to purchase a a pigtail with the Lance connecter on one end and a 7 pin on the other end?
Also, it seems like I am making a bigger deal out of the 8 gauge black and white wires than is necessary, if it is okay to simply use a pigtail to connect Lance to the existing truck plug.

I would suspect any Lance dealer could provide what you are looking for. There are premade pigtails. If you also want to tow a trailer there are pigtails that connect both a trailer and a camper, a Y sort of wiring loom. If you get perplexed the guys on xtremecampers.com have most of anything Lance you could ever possibly want. Maybe contact them.
Don't fret this as it is not a big deal.

I found a diagram of the lance connecter on here or I googled it (can't remember). Anyway, I wired my own connection to the trailer plug of a Ford in about 20 minutes. No biggie. Google the connecter diagrams.
Yes, you can have an adapter made to plug the camper into the trailer connector.

I have a 7 Pin cable on my Sunline that runs from my hitch 7 Pin along to the Front of the TC to plug it in.

I searched the net and couldn't find an adapter for the Lance, a couple of pins in the Lance plug don't match the standard 6 round to 7 blade adapter. So I made my own from a truck side Lance plug. I also tow a 5th and didn't want 2 plugs in my bed. I don't care about running the fridge on DC or max charging of the camper battery when traveling.

I run a y-cable off the truck receptacle to two 7-pin receptacles which is attached to my SuperTruss extension. The TC has a 8'(short bed use) camper to 7-pin cord that can be plugged directly into the truck when not towing (no need for the extension) or in to the y-cable when using the trailer.
