Intresting reults for the recent election. I feel sorry for the locals, who are caught up in this mess.
What would happen if an election took place, and the incumbent losers refused to leave office?
That’s exactly the situation in Quartzsite, Ariz., where two winning candidates for the positions of mayor and town councilman are not being allowed to be seated.
Quartzsite is the town that gained national attention last June when police grabbed a woman who was speaking at a town-council meeting and frogmarched her from the event. (Scroll down for video).
The 2012 municipal election took place May 15, but the old town council in Quartzsite has since refused to seat Ed Foster as mayor and Mark Orgeron as councilman.

I agree, if it didn't have such an adverse effect on so many, including the snowbirds that winter there, it would be comedy central. We have good friends that live there and we spent a year there ourselves. I would not be surprised to see the state step in and take over the day to day operation of the town, which I hope they do, until they can sort out the fiasco. We have followed this whole thing since it started a few years ago and are acquaintances with one of the actors involved......

Is there no state election law to handle this. Any county election commissioners?
I'm sure something here applies: http://www.azleg.gov/arizonarevisedstatutes.asp?title=16

It really makes one wonder what their lives were like before they hit the "Big Times" in quartzsite. Greedy little scavengers.

Well, a Fed judge ruled that the town must seat the new Mayor. As of Friday, the old mayor had refused to do it. Now its just a matter of time. The newly elected mayor Ed Foster and Oregon both new electors, are going to file a wrongful suit against the town and most likely will win huge sums of money. Where else but Az could this happen.
