Looking at Google maps, satellite view, it looks like to is the only way, and the whole route runs thru a valley surrounded by hills. Wikipedia describes it pretty well.

It should be OK. Since you are in the area you might consider stopping at Craters of the Moon NP. Also nearby is the worlds first nuclear generating plant that started up in 1951. It is now available to tour for free. It's called EBR-1.

I've pulled through there. Sometimes you get the feeling that you're the only thing moving within 10 square miles, but that's okay.

I traveled Rt. 93 last year to North Fork and then on to Missoula, MT driving a 43 ft. MH towing a full size pickup and it was an easy drive. Stayed 4 days at Rivers Fork Lodge campground at North Fork. Beautiful territory and drive!

Make sure and see the Base Jumpers at Twin Falls, ID. Can overnight free one night at the Visitors Center at the Perrine Bridge. We loved our ID experience.

Roads are fairly good, depends on road work this year. Vistior center at the junction of 93-75 worth a look. Montain Goats as you start 75, keep an eye open as you pass thru the mtns. Will be a few hills to give you home a work out, Galena pass @8990ft., once pass sunvalley easy trip to Twin.

Absolutely agree with Horizon - Craters is must stop, as is the nuclear site in Arco. We stayed a few nights at the little KOA in Arco. Great place!

Do the craters stop overnight if it is during a New Moon. The campground does not have a swimming pool etc but it is worth staying there. You will witness one of the darkest nights you have ever seen and viewing the Cosmos is fantastic. There may even be some star gazers there that will let you take a look through one of their telescopes.
