Been on the road a few days. When engine is warm and we come off the interstate and slow to a stop we often hear like a squealing sound, like a loose belt makes. But the sound is not a constant. It does not always happen. Could it be the belt?

Lots of info and knowledge about the 8.1L engine and Workhorse chassis here irv2. Maybe you can search or post you're question.

I second taking a look at the IRV2 Workhorse threads

Could it be the Power Steering pump?
If so exchange the stock fluid with a good synthetic
Royal Purple worked great for me it elimated the noise

Finally narrowed it down to a/c. If I use the motor a/c the noise will occur after I shut off the engine. I can sto the noise by turning the a/c on? So is it the compressor ?

No, if the noise stops when you turn ON the A/C compressor, your issue is likely with the A/C CLUTCH. Not an expensive item.
