Surroundings are most important to me. Rough, relatively unspoiled country that I can access from the campground. Water nearby is good, some electric sites are OK. Fairly heavy tree cover and large sites are a must. I prefer a store isn’t in the cg, but within a reasonable drive.
Deal breakers are small, tight sites, swimming pools, playgrounds, and other “amenities” and activities often found in commercial parks. And reservations required. Pavement, whether roads, pads, or trails aren’t deal breakers but they get a negative score. Basically I prefer minimal development and fairly small cg’s.
Well now uits just the 2 of us, also we downsized from a 32' TT at a seasonal CG where the TT stayed onsite, -- to now we have a PUP and go around wherever/whenever. So now, if we have at least 2 nights, we generally go to Branson (about 3 hour drive). If we have 1 night and weather is cooler, we find a CG close to Six Flags and we use our passes. If the Son is home that weekend, there is a CG about 10 minutes from his house, we go there. If we just want to escape and do nothing, We look for SHADE, PRICE, DISTANCE (usually within 1 hour) at least a decent restaurant somewhere close (as we generally eat out most evenings while camping) Most important to us is EASY ACCESS (as the DW does the driving nowadays to help alieviate her motion sickness).

As full timers, we want: water, electric (50 amp), sewer, not too many trees so can get satellite, level sites, paved access and interior roads, laundry room (sometimes), reasonable rate for area, and peace & quiet. If for one night stop we want a long level pull thru.
Don't use their: bathrooms, wi-fi, pool.
We are willing to give up sewer if they have a dump station and we're not staying long term.
We choose the campground then check www.rvparkreviews.com
