I was looking at tires for my fiver and discount tire only has Carlisle are any of you running them on your rigs? My jayco 255 is about 6700# loaded. I'm nervous about switching to lt's like many have.

Avoid the china bombs and order Maxxis tires and have them installed somewhere else. Have them balanced and install stainless steel valve stems. You will not be sorry.

My research a couple of years ago found that these tires were junk and I went with Goodyear Marathons

Avoid Chinese made tires including Carlisle.

Oh please no, not Carlisles. Absolutely anything including bald sun baked tires from a car sitting in Arizona for the last 30 years would be better.
Save yourself some aggravation and get the Maxxis.

In Roswell, NM, at discount tire, I bought 4 new marathons as the ones we had were 5 years old and one showed casing separation issues. They ordered them in and we had great service. I know much has been spoken on China bombs, but I had no issues with the ones I had, but became leery of the age and miles (40,000). I watch tire pressure constantly and also check tire temp with infra red device. Hope this helps.

Think Maxxis. Even on a very light trailer Chinese made tires have a tendency to blow up. They blow up even when mounted in the spare position. Your dealer should be able to ORDER a set of Maxxis for you.

I just put a set of Maxxis on this past Sat. Dealer had to order them. He said when they came in his whole crew were amazed at how much more they weigh than the same tire they sell. He said for the difference in money they are thinking of switching what they sell.
My old ones were 8 years old. Still had plenty of tread; but were strting to have cracks. They were Maxxis also.
Only way to go in my book.

You did not say what tires you had.
Check out this chart.

Consult the chart. Go to a 225/ 75 R 15 load Range E with a 2830 pound load rating tire. Inflate them to 80 PSI. This will give you a max capacity of 11,320 pounds. This will be enough reserve capacity for anything you carry. Any brand load range E is better than a Maxxis load range C.
Do not worry about exceeding the 60 PSI rating marked on the wheels. This is often stamped on there because that is the PSI max for load range C tires. If this scares you keep in mind that there are zero threads about a travel trailer wheel exploding but 50 threads a year about a tire exploding. If still scared run the E rated tire at 65 PSI which will still give you a 2540 pound capacity per tire.
Tires are the weakest link ( wheels, axles) in the capacity and the easiest to remedy.
