First...I hope I have this in the proper section. I have narrowed my search for a replacement pin box down to the TrailAir or the 5th Airborne. Both units seem like they will satisfy my needs. Has anyone had experience with both units? Pro and Cons to either unit? Thanks in advance.

Have no experience with either but, am leaning towards getting the Trailair, because it is made by Lippert, who made my frame. Also it looks like it would be easier to replace the air spring on the Trailair. Will be watching this thread for more input.

Either unit will be a good choice. I have the Trail-Air on our 40' fifthwheel. Works great and wouldn't be with out it. On one trip, we forgot to put away the little pump hand soap in bath room sink. It road there all the way to our next stop right where it was left, some 500 miles down the road. It know has become a challenge to see if it ever falls over or off the counter. It has been some 15,000 miles with out an incident, on some very rough roads, like around Oklahoma City!

I don't know which is best. I have the TrailAir, plus the lower jaw part of the TrailAir. It is hard to say how effictive the trailair really is, let alone how to compare with the 5th Airborne. It seems to me that I saw a post last year of someone that had experience with both.
About the only thing I can recommend is that you look at details of both, and make an educated guess on your own. Look at how the units are designed, and which seems to work the best. Which uses the best parts.
If you want a real difference is towing, get an air bag type of hitch. Expensive, but worth it if you can afford it. My guess is that an air hitch would cost $3000 or so.

I chose the 5th Airborne because the air bag is protected from the sun. I spend the winter in Arizona so the trailer is in the sun a lot. also the 5th Airborne is better looking. I would expect the air bag to last at least 10 years so replacement ease should not be a factor.

Thanks for the replies folks. I had been leaning towards the TrailAir, especially since a good friend of mine swears by it. Probably not a big difference between the two, and sun exposure on the air bag is not a concern to me. So unless I learn of a compelling reason to look at the 5th AIrborne....my decision may be easy.

Other than ugly - the Trailair is fine.
