After paying over $40k for my CCSB 4x4 LBZ classic in july of '07....I'm very happy to say I just put the final nail in the coffin yesterday. She's mine! I'm officially over car payments. I'm keeping this truck for a LONG time. I can't imagine a truck giving me any better service than this one. 90k miles on mine.

It is EPA 2003, and NOT EPA 2008 or EPA 2010 or EPA 2013!

It works.

It is paid for.

The best possible truck to own.

Congratulations!

Good feeling...
You would have to pry the keys out of my stone cold dead hand to get me to give up our LBZ.

What I appreciate about your situation is not so much that you got it paid for in the first five years but the fact that you're happy to keep for the next. Congratulations.

Thanks for the replies guys, very much appreciated. When I bought this truck, it was for a few reasons. I needed a truck to pull my toyhauler, pulling the boat to the lake, my dad was taking on moving from CA to AZ and I pulled probably a hundred loads over for him(he's got a lot of machinery for his business). I knew when I bought it that the 2008's were loaded with emissions garbage, that's why I had to hurry up and snatch it up off the lot, while they were still there. I didn't even shop around, I just bought it. I looked at a few used ones, and they wanted almost as much as new. At least I know what I got. You would also have to pry the keys out of my cold, dead hands. I feel like i'm gonna own this truck until I can no longer drive. Man what a feeling!

I know the feeling. I had the same situation with my 99 1/2 7.3 PSD dually. Not as much grunt as modern day diesels. But, more than enough for for my needs... reliable... and no payments for years. A quarter of a million miles and still going strong as long as I throw a few parts at it. Congrats! Hang onto it.

downtheroad,

We feel the very same way about our ordered new 2004.5 Chevy LLY D/A CC LB 4X4. Getting very close to 130,000 totally trouble free miles and delivers excellent fuel economy both when towing 21,842 lb total rig weight and unloaded. Did replaced one headlight bulb and one tailight bulb as that's the total repairs made. Wonderful and comfortable vehicle that's stock without aftermarket engine or air injection junk. Tows/rides/handles great and NO, it doesn't overheat even when climbing any long steep high altitude grades in the hottest part of the summer (100+ degrees) anywhere in the country! Over 95 percent of the total mileage has been when towing heavy as that's what it's used for. Since we have 3 RV units, and sold our gas engined GM trucks, we are going to be adding a new GM diesel pickup so I don't have to do the "changeovers" from the TC to the 5th wheel to the TT. Will make my life easier and at over age 70, it's surely welcome!

To the OP:

No payments is the "best" by far as we always pay cash for all our new vehicles. Payments really suck! We'd much rather be collecting interest than paying interest so we do! 90.000 miles only means it's finally broken in...

A superb CC LB 4X4, GM HD Diesel, airbags, Rancho's, lots more
Lance Legend TC 11' 4", loaded including 3400 PP generator and my deluxe 2' X 7' rear porch
29 ft Carriage Carri-lite 5'er - a specially built gem
A like new '07 Sunline Solaris 26' TT

I completely agree. This truck is comfortable, reliable, and is a towing monster. I really love the 6 speed allison with tap shifting. Never had one single problem with it, and i've almost completely worn out two sets of tires now. I'll be tire shopping in the next 6 months. I'm gonna wait to do the transmission flush at the stealer probably at the 100k mile mark. That's about the only maintaining this truck needs.

Same here, including the RV.

OP congrats, you might also find the 'ride' has improved just a bit, since your no longer dragging a car note around anymore!
