We are not talking about a Fiver here, are we ? There is no need for a 2500 series truck. I'm amazed how there are those always always advising this. Why stop at 2500,get a 3500. I'm sure it would be better still. Wow, talk about mosquito and the base ball bat.
Danford50. I have a 2006 Ram with the 4.7.and pull a 30fter from Can. to NC every summer. You didn't say if you were shopping new ? The HEMI is the way to go. Also a long wheel base and tow-package you will need. Look at the Ford Eco-boost too. The Titan is a nice truck but not for you.

A better upgrade would be the 2013 RAM 1500 with the full air suspension, Hemi V8 (395hp), 8 speed automatic transmission, and better fuel economy. The Titan was a good truck....6 or 7 years ago -- it's remained pretty much unchanged since. Nowadays, it's been surpassed by every other truck maker. It's very outdated, underpowered, and in desperate need of an update.

x2 and Nissan has no plans to do any major upgrades. Resale will be worse with an even more outdated truck. Chevy's also coming out with an improved 1500. JMHO but I would look at any of the 1/2 tons out there except the Titan. Just make sure you look at all the specs on the one you want to make sure you have enough of a cushion for weights.
Need more information on the 30' TT. Weights. It could be 6000 pounds loaded or 10k loaded. At a minimum, it;s a lot of weight for any half ton suspension. Power wise, the Titan will have much better performance, but so will many other newer trucks, half ton and higher. But if you get into 7000+ pounds loaded with a family in the cab, you run out of payload quickly. Ford and GM offer higher payload options in their half tons. No question, any current 3/4 ton truck will tow it significantly better than what you have now.

If your truck had the Hemi, you wouldn't be looking for new truck
As said earlier, as nice as the Nissan may be, they haven't updated that truck at all. I bet your current truck with the 4.7 only has 3:55 rear gears. Changing them to 3:92 would be an improvement, but expensive as you have to change both front and rear gear sets (if it is a 4x4)

Titans are the worst half ton made in the last 10 years, I had two new ones that lasted a combined 32k miles with over $20k in parts replaced.
The lowest gear ratio available is 3:36. Nissan claim it is = to 4:10, because of their rube goldberg set up that uses the tranny.
Nissan uses the cheapest parts. Most of the running gear is from the Frontier.
The Dana 44 would have been marginal, but Nissan had Dana ruin it.
Considering how few have been sold, the # of major part failures is amazing.
rear diff, front diff, front axle, rear axle seals, manifolds, IPDM's, BCM's, tranny mounts falling off or breaking, nearly every hose clamps fails.
The Titan is a pseudo truck. looks like a truck, but can't be used as one.

Yes, but I don't use the marketing badging...a 'HD' half ton is
a fake half ton and really a light 3/4 ton
Best to use their GVWR's as reference
Regular 'half ton' is in the +6K lb to around 7.6K lb GVWR
A 'HD' half ton has a +8K lb GVWR, where as a regular 3/4 ton is around 8.6K lb GVWR
