Our beloved 6-year old indoor spayed female has one swollen nipple. She's a long-hair so we don't know how long its been swollen.
The nipple swells outward about 1/2 inch and is about 2/3 inches in diameter. Not sensitive to the touch except a little bit of discomfort when I pinched it a bit to see if any liquid came out.
I did feel that the swelling has the consistency of a very soft wet sponge or all liquid inside the swelling area.
Very limited income here so a vet visit is questionable at best.
Sorry, a vet visit is indicated. Differentials include mastitis (infection) which will probably need antibiotics and breast cancer, especially bad disease in cats. Early diagnosis and treatment is the only chance for good outcome with the cancer.

Okay, thanks for the input. Guess I'll try to see if relatives can pitch in for a vet service. When I was working before age and a handicap farmed me out I had spent $19,000+/- over the years for our 3 cats' medical care so we're not uncaring, just broke now, that's all.
Thanks again.
