My DH and I are thinking about stopping by Disney World in late Sept-early Oct. Is this a good time to avoid crowds? Also, we will be staying at Fort Wilderness. We don't want to be right on top of playgrounds, pets or the smoking stations so what loops and or sites would be best for us? Treasa

Yes that's a good time of year to go. We go almost every year in Oct and love it.
As far as what loop to get in? I would say the 700 loop, as it's close to everything including the bus stop/gift shop/restaurant ect.

We stay in the 100 loop as we have a handicap son, but the 700 loop is just across the street.

When we lived in FL,actually Ft. Laud, we had annual FL resident passes and went regularly. The late Sept-Oct time frame is great, it's a little cooler and the crowds are way down. There were times we had no waits at all to get on even the popular rides ...Big Thunder Mountai, Spcae Mountain etc. We didn't have a TT at that time so can't help with the loops...but we did stay often in Ft. Wlderness in thier cabins and enjoyed it very much.

School is back in session during Sep-Oct, but you'll see a lot of foreign tourists.

We've been twice between Christmas and NY's and once in early June. Christmas it gone down to 32 deg and June was just beginning to get too warm, but humidity hadn't peaked yet.

It's a good time of year to go for sure, but the best week is the first full week of December. You'll still enjoy your stay. I don't think any of the loops will be bad for your visit. Look at the map and decide what is more important for you to be near. Have fun!!

Good time of year as others have said. We go several times a year and generally only avoid the summer.
You might like to look at www.fortfiends.net It's not affiliated with Disney but is run by some very enthusiastic Disney campers.

great time to visit our favorite CG. Sounds like you want to avoid pets so request a non-pet loop.

You have chosen a great time to go as already stated. You may want to request a premium site which will give you a little more room as well as put you near the conviences of the campground. Children are there all times of the year but the time your looking at is minimal. There are loops designated as pet loops ( more of those now than non-pet loops ). The 600 loop is very centrally located to everything, we prefer the 1100 loop which is very shady and a little farther away from all the action, golf carts are avilable for rent to get around the CG or you can use the buses which run throughout the CG. No matter where you end up, it is the best place to camp and enjoy all Disney has to offer or do nothing and just enjoy the CG. You may consider yourselves old folks but while you're there, you'll be young at heart.

Great time of year to visit. We were there in Sept 09, many loops were closed (lack of campers, one staff member said they were less than 40% occupied). One day with the Grandsons, were were able to do almost all of Magic Kingdom in one day, including going from Thunder Mountain to Splash Mountain 5 times each. The longest wait in any park was less than 30mins, weekends a bit longer.
Our preference for loops is near the beach, boats to MK. 100, 200, 400, 600 and 700, but other loops have other advantages. All have bus transportation available. The main playground areas are not in any actual loops.
