How hard is it to get over the border to visit Waterton Lakes National Park (Canada) with a passport for a day?

Very easy....we do it going the other way all the time. Use the border crossing at chief Mountain.

Why would it be any more difficult than any other border crossing? There's even a Red Bus tour that takes you to the hotel in Waterton for High Tea. We went; it's very cool.

......and sometimes there is a Mountie waiting at the hotel to greet the guests, all dressed in his red tunic and hat.

OK, I wasn't sure if the tightened things up since 9-11. Looks like they just let you through. Is there a park entrance to the U.S.?

We had to show our Passports to reenter the US.

Going across is no problem. Getting back to the U.S. is another thing. Just don't have any fresh produce, and do have your documention. Have fun.

We've done it several times and it was easy. Once we had to get out and be sniffed by the dogs-no big deal.

Crossing into Canada is no problem, the guards are very professional and you'll be pleased with their welcome! Enjoy your stay at Waterton, it's a neat place and make sure you go in to the big hotel, a classy place!
